Chamonix is a little town in the heart of the French Alps, surrounded by snow-capped mountains (including the iconic Mont Blanc). You can find out how to get to Chamonix here, or if you’re travelling directly from Geneva, then you can discover the best routes here.

There is quite a selection of accommodation in Chamonix, but something about Hôtel Les Aiglons Chamonix stood out to us. With modern interiors, alpine-inspired bedrooms and an outdoor spa, it’s a great choice for choosing the best hotels in Chamonix.

Hôtel Les Aiglons is just a 10-minute walk from Chamonix town centre and less than a minute from the nearest bus stop, ideal if you’re heading to the ski lifts or exploring local cafés and shops. • Outdoor heated pool & outdoor spa included
  • The Geneva to Chamonix airport shuttle bus drops you about a 30-second walk from the hotel
  • Great value for a 4-star hotel
  • Incredible Mont Blanc views
  • On-site Italian restaurant, Casa Nonna

Cons of Hôtel Les Aiglons Chamonix:

  • Spa gets busy during après-ski hours
  • 10-minute walk from Chamonix centre

What are the rooms like at Hôtel Les Aiglons?

Every aspect of the rooms at Hôtel Les Aiglons Chamonix is designed and considered down to the very last detail, including the oversized armchair, the bathrooms and slippers and the 26” Chromecast TV.

You’ll have 7 options of rooms to choose between, varying in size, location and price, including:

  • Classic
  • Classic Attic
  • Classic Mont Blanc
  • Superior Attic
  • Mont Blanc Superior
  • Junior Suite
  • Family

We stayed in the Mont Blanc Superior, which featured an old-school yellow telephone and a Bear coffee table. Proving it’s the little details that really set a hotel room apart. The room was also a whopping 25 sqm, leaving tons of room for activities (and to leave our clothes sprawling about everywhere – we’re sure this is what the extra room is for). Plus, a bathroom with a bath – perfect to warm up after a day of exploring.

The balcony was a stellar feature, home to two comfortable outside chairs and a coffee table with Mont Blanc and mountain views in every direction. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee from, watching the clouds clear and the mountains appear.

Spa & Wellness at Hôtel Les Aiglons: What to Expect

The hotel spa undoubtedly steals the show. Complete with a swimming pool, heated to a comfortable 27 degrees, a hot tub, a sauna and a hammam steam room, filled with vapours that would ward off any stuffy nose.

The hotel spa steals the show.

Highlights of the hotel spa include:

  • Massage and facial treatments
  • Treatments (with an extra charge
  • Heated outdoor swimming pool (27°C)
  • Hot tub
  • Sauna & hammam steam room

Hôtel Les Aiglons Chamonix, spa was made even more of a highlight due to the snow that covered it. Swimming in the pool as the snow fell on my head is a memory I’ll never forget. The colder weather also meant that a lot of the time (we used the spa every day of our stay – can you blame us?), we had the area to ourselves, which only added to the magic of it.

If you want a more private setting, then we suggest visiting the spa in the morning (it opens at 10 am) or early afternoon. Everyone seems to return from skiing and head to the spa late afternoon/ early evening before heading back out for dinner. So, it was lovely to find a few quiet moments in it.

The Spa is included in the price of your stay and really sets this hotel apart from the other accommodations in Chamonix.

Dining at Hôtel Les Aiglons Chamonix Hôtel Les Aiglons

Casa Nonna – Italian Cuisine

  • Authentic pizza, pasta, and homemade desserts
  • Must-try: Tagliolini Morilles and classic Margherita

The Lounge & Bar

  • Comfortable seating with large windows overlooking the mountains
  • Bar drinks are reasonably priced (we had €5 glasses of red wine)

Breakfast Buffet

  • Homemade pastries, artisan cheeses, fresh fruit
  • Hot dishes including potatoes, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and a selection of meats
  • Bean-to-cup coffee options

The whole hotel is decorated to a very high standard, having recently been refurbished. As you walk in, you’ll be met by the large windows showcasing the hotel’s mountainous views. Only being blocked by the well-stocked bar and comfortable seating areas.

The bar is a statement in itself, towering up into the hotel’s high ceilings. We grabbed two glasses of red here whilst waiting for our room to be ready and were pleasantly surprised at the cost – €5 each.

To the right, you’ll find Casa Nonna, the hotel’s Italian restaurant serving authentic pizza and pasta, which, of course, we had to sample. We opted for the Tagliolini Morilles and a classic Margherita, paired perfectly with a side of herby new potatoes. Because, naturally, two lots of carbs just aren’t enough.

The complimentary breakfast buffet offers a gourmet spread of homemade pastries, artisan cheese, fruit and yoghurt (including coconut yoghurt, which made me very happy) and freshly baked baguettes. Plus, of course, a selection of hot dishes including potatoes, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and a selection of meats for the meat eaters. Finishes off with a cappuccino or espresso, depending on where the morning is taking you.
