Travelling by bus from Geneva to Chamonix Mont Blanc is by far the most popular way. Here are the options that you should consider:
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to travel from Geneva to Chamonix, an organised bus is the best option. These buses operate on set schedules and stop at set places in Chamonix, such as the main bus station.
They also leave from Geneva Airport, which is very helpful if you aren’t looking to spend any time in Geneva, which is why we opted for this option.
They’re ideal if you don’t mind making your own way to your accommodation from there. (However, Hôtel Les Aiglons is directly opposite the bus station). Making a bus from Geneva to Chamonix is the best option for us.
Cost of the bus to Chamonix:
Fares start from around €19.50 when booked in advance, making this one of the most affordable transfer options. It is advised to buy your bus tickets online before you travel.

Depending on traffic and road conditions, the trip will take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. But, don’t worry, the journey is gorgeous and the last 30 minutes absolutely breathtaking!
Things to consider when booking a bus to and from Chamonix:
While these buses from Geneva to Chamonix are the best value and very convenient, they don’t offer door-to-door drop-offs. If your accommodation isn’t close to a designated stop (which is right outside Hôtel Les Aiglon), then you may need to take a local bus or taxi for the final stretch. You can also opt for an airport transfer instead from Geneva Airport to Geneva City, if you want to spend a few days in the city of Geneva before travelling to Chamonix.

For those who prefer a scenic and comfortable way to travel from Geneva to Chamonix, the train service is an excellent choice. Although not a direct route, the journey offers stunning views of the Swiss and French Alps, making it a memorable part of your trip.
Travelling by train was actually our preference over the bus from Geneva to Chamonix. However, we opted to travel by bus because it was direct from the airport. If we had had more time and had spent some time in Geneva, then we would have definitely opted to travel by train, as the views are unmatched.
