Do I need a car to visit Paphos beaches in Cyprus?

If you fancy having the freedom to explore then renting a car definitely has its advantages. However, it’s not necessary due to the great bus system.

If you do opt to rent a car then we recommend renting one directly at the airport for convenience and flexibility. Cars can be rented for as little as £10 per day. However, if your Cyprus adventure revolves around the alluring beaches of Paphos itself, the need for a car within the city limits might be secondary.

Which is the best beach in Paphos?

It completely depends on what you’re looking for. Out of all of the Paphos beaches, we recommend Coral Bay. If you want to see where the turtles lay their eggs, head to Lara Beach.

Coral Bay, Paphos beaches Cyprus

Coral Bay is one of the best-known beaches in Paphos and for good reason. Celebrated for its enchanting blend of golden sands and pristine, shallow waters. This beach has rightfully earned its reputation as one of Paphos’ most sought-after destinations, drawing visitors with its postcard-perfect scenery.

The crystal-clear, shallow waters of Coral Bay provide an ideal setting for activities like snorkelling and paddleboarding. Adventurous souls can take advantage of opportunities for jet skiing and parasailing. If that’s not your thing, the beach is well-equipped with facilities. Including sunbeds and umbrellas, ensuring that visitors can indulge in a day of relaxation or adventure with comfort and convenience.

Coral Bay, the Cyprus Paphos beach, is also one of the best spots to watch the sunset. Enjoy a cold drink in one of the two beach bars.

There is a good amount of parking near the beach and tarmac parking opposite the road. There is also a bus stop right at the beach (bus 615). So, if you don’t have a car, then you can still easily access this beach.

Faros Beach

Nestled in proximity to the renowned Paphos Archaeological Park, Faros Beach emerges as a hidden treasure along the Cypriot coastline. As beachgoers enjoy the Mediterranean sun, the ancient ruins of the historical sites provide a unique backdrop.

The proximity to the archaeological park allows visitors to transition from a day of seaside relaxation to an exploration of Paphos’ rich history.

The beach has lovely soft sand and a good amount of space to be able to set up and accommodate a lot of people throughout the year.

There is a good-sized car park next to the beach but if you’re visiting during high season then we recommend getting here early to prevent disappointment. Faros beach is pretty close to the centre so you may be able to walk depending on the location of your accommodation.

Lara Beach, Paphos beaches Cyprus

Lara Beach, tucked away along the Paphos coastline, unveils a rugged and unspoiled haven for those seeking a distinctive coastal experience.

Far removed from the bustling tourist hubs, this beach stands as a testament to untamed beauty and a commitment to preserving the natural environment. Lara Beach is an extremely well-known beach in Paphos for its sea turtle conservation efforts. It has been a prime nesting ground for sea turtles for centuries and when you visit you will be able to see why. The presence of sea turtles adds an extraordinary dimension to the beach. Visitors have the rare opportunity to witness the delicate balance between nature and wildlife in this protected coastal haven.

Aphrodite’s Rock Beach

The island of Cyprus is hugely influenced by Greek mythology. So, it’s easy to see why one of the beaches in Paphos Cyprus is named after a Greek God.

Aphrodite’s Rock Beach, aptly named after the mythical birthplace of the goddess of love, is a beautiful spot to spend the afternoon.

Beyond its scenic beauty, the beach carries with it an air of timeless mythology. As the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, you really feel this on the beach.

The stunning views at Aphrodite’s Rock Beach are gorgeous. The focal point of the beach is the iconic Aphrodite’s Rock. A massive sea stack that stands as a testament to the region’s rich cultural and mythological heritage. As the myth goes, this is the very rock from which Aphrodite emerged. Anaouliontas Municipal Beach

This Paphos beach isn’t actually on Google. However, we stayed at the 5* hotel Elysium and Anaouliontas Municipal Beach is right opposite it.

Elysium has a monopoly on the beds and facilities at the beach but they do not own the beach. Which makes sense as it is a Municipal Beach. So, even if you’re not staying at the hotel you can still come and spend the afternoon on this little beach.

White River Beach

White River Beach stands out among the best in Cyprus for its unique blend of natural beauty and tranquillity.

If you’re looking for a gorgeous Paphos beach in Cyprus then White River Beach is the one for you. Nestled away from the more frequented tourist hubs, this beach exudes a serene charm that immediately captures the hearts of those who discover it.

What sets White River Beach apart is not just its beautiful scenery but also the sense of exclusivity it offers. With fewer crowds compared to some of the more popular beaches, you’ll be able to enjoy the beach without interruption.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Cyprus. White River Beach offers a quieter, more intimate coastal experience, this beach stands as a testament to Cyprus’s diverse and captivating seaside offerings.
