4 Amazing Days in Cyprus: The Ultimate Itinerary
Thinking of spending 4 Days in Cyprus? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Read on for our ultimate guide, including where to stay (and our favourite 5-star hotel in Paphos, Cyprus), the best places to see and how to get to Cyprus.
Cyprus is a gorgeous island in the eastern Mediterranean. It has two sides to it: the Republic of Cyprus in the south and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the north. The Republic of Cyprus is a far more popular side and the side that we will be exploring in this 4-day itinerary.
During our search for somewhere hot and sunny and not too long of a flight, we stumbled upon the island of Cyprus, with its warm Mediterranean sun, adorned with history, culture, and crystalline shores. Cyprus was the perfect Mediterranean escape and a wonderful backdrop for my 30th birthday. A ‘quick’ 4-hour flight and voila, we were in the sunshine!

It’s such a perfect place to visit out of season as the summer months stretch far longer than they do here in the UK, and you’ll see warmer temperatures right until the end of November if you’re lucky, making it the perfect spot to visit off-season.
We actually stayed for 8 days. But if you’re looking for a short trip away, then you could easily spend just 4 days in Cyprus exploring the island and enjoying the sunshine.
In this guide, I’ve put together the perfect four-day itinerary for Cyprus, packed full of culture, relaxation and exploration!

Day 4: Relax and enjoy the beautiful beaches
Before we dive into the itinerary, I’m going to cover some other important things to know before your visit, such as the best way to travel around Cyprus, when to visit, how to get to the island and where to stay.
Here is a handy map to help you find each spot:
How to get to Cyprus
You can fly to Cyprus from the majority of airports in the UK with various airlines for a very reasonable price. We flew from Stansted London to Paphos in November for £130 each, including baggage (which cost £40). If you’re spending 4 Days in Cyprus, then you could easily travel without additional baggage to keep the cost down.
How many airports are there in Cyprus?
There are a total of 9 airports in Cyprus. However, 6 of these belong to the military departments of the Republic of Cyprus, the UK and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The remaining 4 are international airports that you can fly into. These include Larnaca (LCA) and Paphos (PFO) in South Cyprus and Ercan International Airport in the North. However, it is recently illegal to fly into the North of Cyprus from the UK and, therefore, this airport.
Find out how to get to and from Paphos airport in our post here.
Which area of Cyprus should I visit during my 4 Days in Cyprus?
Choosing the ideal area to explore in Cyprus largely depends on your preferences and interests.
If you’re drawn to rich historical and cultural experiences, consider visiting the city of Paphos, renowned for its archaeological sites and ancient ruins, including the Tombs of the Kings and the Paphos Archaeological Park.
Limassol offers a dynamic city atmosphere coupled with beautiful beaches for a more cosmopolitan vibe and vibrant nightlife. Nature enthusiasts may find the Troodos Mountains appealing, with its picturesque villages, hiking trails, and stunning landscapes.
Larnaca, with its blend of historical sites and modern amenities, is another great option. At the same time, those seeking a quieter retreat may find the charming villages of the Akamas Peninsula or the serene beaches of Protaras to be idyllic.
Each region of Cyprus has its own unique charm, so determining your priorities will guide you to the perfect area tailored to your preferences.
We opted to visit Paphos as it has an airport, meaning no long travel days to and from the airport, a beautiful 5-star hotel in Cyprus Paphos, and it had a lot to see and do. If you are spending 4 Days in Cyprus, then we also really recommend staying in here.
Where to stay in Cyprus: Our favourite 5-star hotel in Paphos, Cyprus
During our visit to Cyprus, we stayed in the incredible Elysium Hotel. It was honestly one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. From the breakfast to the pool to the staff. Everything was incredible. It has five restaurants, multiple swimming pools, a swim-up bar, gorgeous sea views, a spa, and tennis courts. The list goes on and on.
It’s located on Paphos beachfront, adjacent to the Tombs of the Kings and is around a 25-minute drive to Paphos Airport and a 5-minute drive to Paphos’s centre (to which the hotel offers a free shuttle).
We really recommend staying here if you’re looking for a luxurious stay. It is ideal for both a couple’s romantic getaway and a family holiday.

The perfect 4-Day Cyprus itinerary: day-by-day breakdown
Day 1: Explore the Ancient history of Paphos and RELAX!
This itinerary assumes that you have either arrived the night before in Cyprus or early in the morning of your first day. If this isn’t the case, then simply skip the first half of ‘Day 1’ and spend your first day relaxing after your flight.
Begin your four-day Cyprus adventure by learning about the country’s history in Paphos.
Explore the well-preserved mosaics in the UNESCO Paphos Archaeological Park and wander through the Tombs of the Kings. If you’re staying at Elysium Hotel, then the Tombs of the Kings are next door to the hotel, so it’s the perfect spot to explore locally.
The Tombs of the Kings date back to the 4th century BC and were used as burial sites for high-ranking officials and aristocrats during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Despite the name, no actual kings were buried here. Instead, the grandeur of the carvings in the rocks inspired the name. Their design reflects both Egyptian and Greek influences, showcasing Paphos’s significance as a cultural crossroads in the ancient world.

At the time of writing this, entrance costs just €2.50/ 2.85 USD per person, and the whole space takes around 1-2 hours to look around.
We enjoyed a couple of hours here, learning about the history, enjoying the views and taking some photos before moving on to our next stop of the day.
After you’ve explored the Tombs of the Kings, head south along the coastline to Paphos Castle, offering a glimpse into the island’s medieval past. The walk takes around 50 minutes (or the drive is 10 minutes). It’s a lovely walk that takes you along the sea, so if you are able to, we recommend walking it.
Paphos Castle is located next to Paphos Harbour, full of restaurants, cafes and a few little touristy spots. It’s a great place to grab some lunch and a drink with a view, ready for the afternoon. If you’re staying at Elysium, they also offer a free shuttle back from here, just make sure that the timings align.
We recommend spending your afternoon relaxing and soaking up some of the Cypriot sunshine. Paphos Municipal Beach is fairly small, but there are areas where you can hire a sun lounger or relax on the sand, or head back to your hotel and relax by the pool for the afternoon.

Day 2: Sample some local wine in the mountains
After a hearty buffet breakfast at your hotel, escape to the Troodos Mountains for a day of nature, culture and wonderful local wine tasting (and maybe even some cheese)!
To get here, you can either opt to get a bus from Paphos, you can take the Municipal bus No. 633, which will take around 1-1.5 hours, or opt to take a taxi or Uber into the mountains. This will cost you around €30/ 34 USD, and the drive will take around 40 minutes. If you have hired a car, then you can also drive here, which will give you more freedom, but will mean someone has to miss out on the wine tasting!
Start your day at Kykkos Monastery and the other UNESCO-listed painted churches of the region. It’s a gorgeous place with a large number of beautiful wall paintings and mosaics, and an extremely impressive monastery church with a beautiful spiritual atmosphere. Once you’ve looked around, explore the charming mountain villages like Omodos, known for its cobblestone streets and the Monastery of Holy Cross.
Now for the best bit: tasting some wine! We actually did this on my 30th birthday, and it was a wonderful way to spend the day! We originally wanted to visit on a tour, but most had already closed for the season (my birthday is the 14th of November), so we were quite limited. Instead, we took a taxi here and enjoyed a little local winery and the incredible views without a tour.

We recommend visiting Tsangarides Winery. It’s a small, locally run winery and vineyard with beautiful views, friendly staff and $5 wine tasting. We opted for a cheese board to go with our wines and were also shown around the winery afterwards. We’ve been on quite a few wine tastings over the years, and this was definitely one of the most relaxed, however, it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Of course, if you are visiting in season (or just not quite so off-season as us), then we highly recommend you take a tour to the wineries and the Troodos Mountains.
There are a few to choose between, but some that come highly recommended include the Troodos Mountain Food & Wine Tasting Tour with Lunch. This is a full-day tour lasting 8.5 hours and includes:
– Visiting a mix of rural villages
– A full traditional meze lunch
– 5 stops showing you traditional Cypriot products and how they’re made
– Wine and food tastings at each stop
Another tour that we recommend is the Troodos Mountains & Villages Guided Day Trip, which is also a full-day tour lasting 8 hours. It includes:
– Visit charming villages in the Troodos Mountains
– Tasting wines in a boutique local winery
– Visit Millomeris Waterfall
– Visit the breathtaking location of Aphrodite at Petra tou Romiou
You can book the Troodos Mountains & Villages Guided Day Trip here.
If these don’t take your fancy, have a look at some of the other ones on offer:
Day 3: Explore the blue waters of the Blue Lagoon
This was our favourite day during our trip to Cyprus.
As we didn’t hire a car, we opted to go on a guided tour to The Blue Lagoon, Baths of Aphrodite, and
Edro III Shipwreck.
The tour was really good value at (£34/ 45 USD) for a full-day trip (8 hrs). It takes you to multiple places, including The Blue Lagoon (the highlight of our day!), the Baths of Aphrodite and The Edro III Shipwreck.
First off, you’ll stop at the Baths of Aphrodite, about an hour’s drive from Paphos. Tucked away on the edge of the Akamas Peninsula, this natural grotto is steeped in legend. It’s said to be the spot where the goddess Aphrodite bathed and first met her lover, Adonis. There’s a pretty little waterfall and a nearby tap, which, according to local folklore, washing your face here is said to bring beauty, love, or good luck.
After a really beautiful drive through Akamas National Park, you’ll reach the Blue Lagoon, our favourite stop. The water is SO blue, and the boat trip is lovely and relaxing. You’ll spend a few hours on the bright blue waters and have the option to explore the underwater world by snorkelling amidst schools of fish or relaxing on board your boat. You can also buy drinks on board (we opted for a few Proseccos and beers). It’s a must-see for any four days in Cyprus!

Next, you’ll also stop off at an incredible shipwreck: The Edro III Shipwreck. The Sierra Leone-flagged EDRO III ran aground off Pegeia on 8 September 2011 due to heavy seas, during a voyage to Rhodes, from Limassol, Cyprus.
It’s now a spot that tourists can come and visit and take in the impressive sceptical. We got here just in time for a windy golden hour, which made it look even more impressive with the huge crashing waves and golden sun behind it.

You can book this day trip to the Blue Lagoon plus other stops here.
Day 4: Spend your day relaxing on one of the gorgeous beaches
You can’t come to Cyprus and not spend a day relaxing on the beaches.
If you fancy some beach time, there are a variety of beaches to choose from. Although many of them in the west have shingle or pebbled shores, they’re still perfect for spending a few hours relaxing on. We visited Coral Bay Beach, it’s a gorgeous sandy beach with calm waters that you can swim in, sun loungers you can hire and a couple of little beach bars to grab a drink from. You can catch the public bus line 615 from Paphos, which takes 31 minutes and costs €2.

Returning to Akamas National Park (where the boat for the Blue Lagoon left from) is also a great idea. You’ll find many rocky bays along the north coast, and the sea here is often calm and clear for swimming. The views are also gorgeous!
