I’ve visited Lake Bled twice, once in 2019 and then again in 2025, and I have to say, for somewhere so popular, it really hasn’t lost its charm. I loved it just as much the second time as I did the first. But, figuring out where the best accommodation in Lake Bled is, is still just as confusing.

It is around 35 km (22 miles) from Ljubljana International Airport and 55 km (34 miles) from the city of Ljubljana. Understanding Bled and Its Neighbourhoods
When it comes to choosing where to stay in Lake Bled, each area offers its own charm, pros and cons. Bled Town Centre is ideal if you want to be in the heart of it and like to have amenities on your doorstep. With cafés, restaurants, and the iconic lakeside promenade right by you.
For a quieter, more romantic escape, the west shore, known as Velika Zaka, offers dreamy lake views and easy access to traditional Pletna boats heading to Bled Island. I think this is possibly the most romantic hotel in Lake Bled.
If you’re seeking nature and tranquillity, Zaka Bay is a peaceful pocket surrounded by greenery, perfect for morning swims in the lake or lakeside picnics.
For something truly unique, staying near Bled Castle gives you a fairytale backdrop and sweeping views over the lake. And if you don’t mind being a short walk or cycle away, the outskirts and nearby villages like Ribno or Selo offer cosy guesthouses and farm stays that immerse you in Slovenia’s countryside charm while keeping Lake Bled within easy reach. If your budget is a bit tighter, then staying in a town outside of Lake Bled is a great option.

Tips for Booking Hotels in Bled
1. Book Early
If you can, it’s usually best to book your hotel early, as generally the earlier you book, the cheaper your hotel will be. Now, this isn’t a 100% guaranteed way to save money, but it does generally result in cheaper prices. Once you know you want to visit a destination, book the hotel.
This is particularly important in peak months like July, August, or December, when hotels often raise their rates and fill up quickly. Leave it too late, and you’ll likely be left paying more for a hotel that may not even be your first choice or suit your needs.
2. Read Reviews and Check Ratings
I only usually book a hotel if it has a rating of 8+; if it’s lower than that and I really want to stay there, then I’ll read through the reviews. Sometimes they can be about things that wouldn’t bother me or aren’t relevant, e.g. no parking, walking distance to the main area (but it’s the location I’m looking for), not great food (but I’m opting for a room-only rate). However, I do care about cleanliness, WIFI, friendly staff, etc., so just make sure that it’s not a low rating for something that would affect you.
3. Be Flexible with Dates for the Best Deals
Weekdays are often cheaper than weekends, but certain days within the week can also be cheaper. Prices also vary greatly depending on the month. If you have the ability to be flexible, then this can save you a ton of money when it comes to booking your trip and hotel.
4. Use Trusted Booking Platforms
Sometimes booking directly through the hotel can be the best way to get the best price. But, generally, I find that booking through a hotel booking platform, such as booking.com or hotels.com, is the best way to find the cheapest prices. This is because these platforms generally get the best price for what’s called a ‘closed user group’, which is when the customer has to enter a password in order to see the prices, which allows hotels to share even cheaper ones than they would usually list.
