How You Can Afford Your Next Trip Sooner Than You Think, Plus Smash That Travel Budget Goal!

Travel is all about experiences, and living is all about making memories and having the time of your life (for us anyway). So, if you’re like us here are our tips to make sure you get to make as many memories as possible and start that round the world trip a lot quicker! 1. Stay in cheap accommodation!

Don’t get us wrong, we love a flash hotel but when you are out exploring a new city, how long do you really spend in your accommodation? Dorm rooms and hostels should become your new best friend! They’re also a really great way to meet new people and immerse yourself into the culture a bit better. Plus, if you do then decide to book yourself a hotel it will feel even more like a treat.

2. Use Monzo’s roundup tool

If you already use Monzo then turn on their roundup tool, if not – get one ordered! Monzo rounds up every payment you make with your bank card to its nearest £1 and adds the extra into a savings pot. A quick and easy way to save some extra £££.

3. Be realistic with how you spend your money

If you go out in a new outfit every Friday, then you’re probably not going to be able to save much. We’re not saying stop having any fun and sit at home until you’re trip, instead, be realistic with how much you can save. Put your savings into a separate pot straight away when you are paid and then you can enjoy what you are left with.

4. Exchange work for accommodation

There are plenty of places that will allow you to exchange your services for accommodation, be that cleaning, reception work or even something like running their social media whilst you stay there.

5. Work oversees

Working overseas is an awesome way to get immersed in the culture, be able to spend time exploring a new destination and earn some money whilst you’re doing it. A lot of countries (such as Australia) actually pay a much higher wage – we found anyway. And it really helped us to save a lot more in a shorter period of time.

6. Travel with a budget in mind

Travelling cheap can make a huge difference to your budget. If you opt for fancy hotels and taxis everywhere then this will eat into your travel budget very quickly and your round the world trip cost will go up extremely quickly.
